So, Who Are We?
Since its founding in 1874, Andrews University has been dedicated to integrating rigorous scholarship, quality research, and practical Christianity into its curriculum. What began as a small school in Battle Creek, Michigan, with just 12 students, has grown into the most recognized Adventist educational institution in the world.
Named after John Nevins Andrews, a pioneering thinker and the first overseas missionary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the University embodies his legacy of thoughtful inquiry and compassionate action.
Andrews attracts students from across the U.S. and around the globe, offering a culturally diverse, faith-focused environment that prepares graduates to lead with both knowledge and purpose.
"Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree as an advanced degree has advanced my knowledge and skills in clinical, leadership and education
areas within healthcare organizations. This allowed me to make significant contributions to a positive outcome at a broader level than traditional nursing degree. The program prepared me for advanced skills and knowledge needed to analyze complex healthcare issues, advocate for my patient, and translate research into clinical practice."
"The DNP program has prepared me for NP roles by providing advanced clinical training, leadership development, and evidence-based practice skills. The most valuable part of my training was the Advanced Clinical Skills of the DNP program. This includes extensive coursework in pathophysiology, pharmacology, and health assessment to ensure that we NPs can diagnose, treat, and manage patients effectively. Earning a DNP degree gave me the opportunity to be specialized in my clinical practice as a Cardiology NP, opened doors beyond patient care like leadership opportunities-Clinical leadership positions, quality improvement committees etc., and off course higher salaries."
"As an advanced medical professional and a clinical instructor, this DNP experience has helped me to understand the importance of providing up-to-date evidence-based care and passing along relevant evidence-based practice information to the next generation of nurses. I will always have a heart of gratitude for my chair(s) and instructors because their encouragement, support, and patience through this journey was invaluable to my successful completion. To God be the glory, great things He has done and will continue to do!"

BSN to DNP (For BSN-prepared nurses looking to earn their DNP in one streamlined program)
The BSN to DNP pathway at Andrews University is designed for registered nurses holding a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) who are ready to advance directly into doctoral education. Students can choose between two specializations:
- The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration is dedicated to providing comprehensive primary care to individuals and families across all ages, genders, diseases, and body systems. This track requires 65 credits and can be completed in 4.5 years of full-time study. FNPs are trained to perform physical examinations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, and manage overall patient care. They emphasize health promotion, disease prevention, and patient education, fostering long-term relationships to support patients' well-being throughout their lives. This holistic approach ensures that FNPs address not only the physical health needs but also the emotional and social aspects of patient care
- The Leadership in Advanced Nursing Practice concentration, is designed for nurses aiming to assume pivotal leadership roles within healthcare systems, policy formulation, and educational settings. This 67-credit program can be completed in 3.5 years of full-time study. The curriculum encompasses a comprehensive range of subjects, including organizational leadership, healthcare policy, information systems, and evidence-based practice. Graduates are equipped to lead and innovate in various healthcare environments, driving improvements in patient care quality, influencing health policy, and contributing to the advancement of nursing education.
Master’s to DNP (For nurses with an MSN seeking advanced practice or leadership roles)
