TESTIMONIALS
"My time at Andrews significantly shaped my view of nutrition in many ways. My classes kept me motivated as they pushed and challenged me to think outside the box. Many of the professors lovingly pushed me towards excellence in clinical skills and academic performance. My time at Andrews helped reiterate the value of faith-based nutrition that I can share with my patients and their families! I have felt as though Andrews adequately prepared me for the workplace through detailed, purposeful education and personalized internship opportunities. One skill that Andrews helped me grow was my ability to think through complex scenarios and provide helpful recommendations to my patients without over-complicating things. This skill has served me well in my pediatric population."

"Being part of the Nutrition and Wellness program at Andrews University allowed me to expand on my nutritional knowledge that I had learned during the undergraduate coursework, while providing me with immeasurable experiences through the DI internship. The clinical nutrition and management experience that I was able to get through my internship helped to successfully prepare me for the role that I am currently in, as well as passing the RD exam! The skills that I developed and the network of professionals that I was connected with during my time at Andrews University led to being hired in a dream position at the University of Notre Dame, and I am eternally grateful to each of them!"

Named after John Nevins Andrews, a pioneering thinker and the first overseas missionary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the University embodies his legacy of thoughtful inquiry and compassionate action.
Andrews attracts students from across the U.S. and around the globe, offering a culturally diverse, faith-focused environment that prepares graduates to lead with both knowledge and purpose.

These trends present exciting career opportunities for graduates trained in vegetarian and plant-based nutrition. Whether working in clinical settings, public health, wellness coaching, or the food industry, professionals with a deep understanding of plant-based dietary approaches are in high demand.
At Andrews University, our Nutrition Science & Dietetics program uniquely prepares students for this expanding field with a strong emphasis on vegetarian nutrition, evidence-based practice, and hands-on experience. Graduates are well-equipped to meet the needs of an evolving food and healthcare landscape.
Becoming an RDN involves completing academic coursework, supervised training, and earning a graduate degree before sitting for the national exam. Here's a clear step-by-step pathway:
Earn a baccalaureate degree from an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)—like the one offered at Andrews University.
Once you’ve met all academic requirements, you’ll receive a Verification Statement from the program director.
Apply to and complete a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised practice through a Dietetic Internship (DI) - like the DI program offered at Andrews University.
You must receive a second Verification Statement confirming completion of these hours.
As of January 1, 2024, you must hold a graduate degree to be eligible to take the RDN exam - like the MS Nutrition & Wellness program offered at Andrews University.
Most students meet this requirement by completing a master’s program following their supervised practice.
Once you’ve earned both your graduate degree and completed your supervised practice, you’ll be eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietitian Nutritionists to earn the RDN credential.

TESTIMONIALS
"I moved from my hometown of Chicago to beautiful Berrien Springs to attend Andrews University. I quickly fell in love with SW Michigan and can no longer imagine living anywhere else. The vibrant sunsets, lush trees, sprawling fruit orchards, and the pristine beaches that surround the area have benefitted my mental health and brought me needed peace. Andrews is also a very diverse campus and located near several bigger cities, so it is the perfect mix of small town and city, neither isolating nor overwhelming. The plant-based emphasis that Andrews offers is unlike any other ACEND-accredited nutrition program. The health and environmental benefits of a plant-based diets are well covered in the curriculum and backed up by decades of evidence-based research. It was a privilege to study nutrition at a Seventh Day Adventist institution, as this group of people are world-renown for their health and longevity. The program prepares students to formulate vegan, vegetarian, and omnivorous diets to serve individuals with diverse cultural and medical needs."
